This homeowner had a problem with standing water that was running towards the house. This can happen with improper backfill at the time the house was built and property excavated. I dug a French drain trench, put drain tile in, covered that with pea stone, and then filled and resurfaced the area with soil. It is a lot easier to get your toys and tools in and out of your one-stall garage or shed when it has its own driveway! I cut this driveway into the side of the yard and reshaped the existing hill. All the material was put into the yard to be spread out later. I put down GEO fabric to help with the Clay soils, then topped it with a 5-inch layer of asphalt millings.
